SWMW Law Partner Holly Deihl Named 'Unsung Hero' by The Legal Intelligencer - SWMW Law | Mesothelioma & Asbestos Lawyers

SWMW Law, one of the top law firms in the country focusing on plaintiffs’ asbestos, consumer and product liability litigation, is proud to announce The Legal Intelligencer has named Partner Holly Deihl a recipient of its Unsung Hero Award.

Part of the Intelligencer’s Professional Excellence Awards, the Unsung Hero Award recognizes attorneys and legal professionals who have gone above and beyond, often behind-the-scenes, in service to their clients and community.

“I have had the privilege of working alongside Holly for several years and can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor,” said Member Ben Schmickle. “Holly’s commitment to her clients and the community-at-large is unmatched, and we are proud to have her on our team.”

Deihl, who joined SWMW Law as a partner in 2021 and leads the firm’s Pittsburgh office, has committed her life to serving others, both in and out of the courtroom. In her work with the firm, she represents victims of mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases and cancers. Going further than her position requires, she works behind-the-scenes to regularly prepare wills and powers-of-attorney for clients and their families – all at no cost to them.

Deihl’s commitment to her clients is mirrored by her commitment to the community. She works with the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (WPTLA) to draft wills for people in vulnerable communities, participates in several boards to raise money for area schools, and is on the WPTLA’S planning committee for a 5K race that benefits the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers – a nonprofit dedicated to providing opportunities for those with disabilities to participate in sports.

She also serves on the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) – Women in Law Division Council, to which she was recently voted to serve a second term. As part of this organization, she helps to empower other women in the legal field by organizing mentoring events, networking events, and CLE events that promote diversity in law. In this role, she also mentors other female attorneys in the beginnings of their career. She also sits on the council’s Awards Committee, where she helps to recognize other women in the legal field for their leadership and achievements.

Additionally, Deihl is a fellow in the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the ACBA.  In this role, she devotes a significant amount of her time raising money for the foundation and awarding grants to organizations that serve the community in a legal capacity, such as providing legal services to immigrants, women and children at no-cost. She also serves as the Vice Chair for the ACBA Bench Bar Planning Committee, a position she earned after being nominated by her peers. Next year, she will serve as the committee’s Chair.

Deihl will join other Professional Excellence Awards honorees for an awards dinner June 14 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. For more information and a full list of honorees, click here.
