The Up & Coming Awards recognize early-career attorneys who are making a positive difference in the practice of law in Missouri and whose outstanding contributions have them on the track for success. This year’s honorees will be recognized during an awards reception today, as well as in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Dixon joined the firm in 2023. A member of the firm’s Asbestos Practice, she works specifically on Litigation Case Development. In this role, she works closely with the firm’s clients to investigate their occupational and personal histories. She also prepares clients for and provides skilled guidance during their depositions, which is a pivotal and important milestone in their cases. Further, Dixon strategically navigates motion practice, all while ensuring clients remain informed and confident throughout the case.
Before joining SWMW Law as an attorney, Dixon first served as a law clerk for the firm, working remotely from southern Illinois while she attended law school. She conducted legal research and provided support for several departments within the firm’s Asbestos Practice while also practicing in the Domestic Violence and Juvenile Justice clinics under IL Rule 711 and serving as Chief Justice of her law school’s moot court program.
She graduated from Murray State University with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Legal Studies. She received her J.D. and was a top-20 graduate from Southern Illinois University School of Law.
While attending Southern Illinois University School of Law, Dixon achieved an impressive level of success. Her list of accolades include: Lincoln’s Inn Award – given to law students who exhibit outstanding leadership and service; Order of Barristers – a national honor society whose purpose is to recognize graduating students for exceptional skill in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and brief writing; 2023 National Child Welfare and Adoption Law Moot Court Competition – champion team, sixth-best oralist; 2023 SIU Law Speed Trial Competition – first-place team; 2023 Region 8 National Moot Court Competition – third-best brief; and 2021 SIU Intramural Moot Court Competition – second-best oralist, second-best brief.
