Consumer Protection Attorney

Three business professionals, two women and one man, are walking and talking outside a modern office building with large glass windows. The women are holding folders, one blue and one yellow, while the man holds a yellow notebook. They are dressed in business attire, with the man in a gray suit and the women in blazers and pants. The setting is bright and contemporary.

Corporate negligence causes damages to consumers far too often, and it’s our mission to hold them accountable. Through a type of litigation called a class action suit, a group of harmed individuals can take their common complaint to the court to confront the company or corporation and hold them accountable for their actions. Our goal with these suits is to compensate those harmed and legally force the defendant to stop the damaging behavior.

These cases could include, but are not limited to:

  • Data or security privacy breaches
  • False, deceptive or misleading advertising
  • Unfair sales practices
  • Excessive or hidden fees
  • Predatory lending

Consumer fraud refers to deceptive or misleading practices that businesses or individuals use to gain an unfair advantage over consumers. It involves misrepresenting products or services, manipulating information, or engaging in other dishonest tactics to exploit consumers financially. Common forms of consumer fraud include:

This involves making false or misleading claims about a product or service in advertisements. For example, advertising a product as “all-natural” when it contains synthetic ingredients. When a company’s website or advertisement makes promises about a product or service, those claims should be truthful and upheld. Too often, businesses mislead consumers, suggesting their products are safer, healthier, or more effective than they really are. These false or deceptive claims can violate consumer protection laws.

Identity theft occurs when someone steals another person’s personal information, such as their Social Security number or credit card details, to make unauthorized purchases or access financial accounts.

Phishing involves sending fraudulent emails, texts, or messages that appear to be from legitimate companies or organizations. These messages often ask recipients to provide sensitive information, such as passwords or financial details, which can then be used for fraudulent purposes.

Pyramid schemes promise participants high returns on their investment by recruiting others to join the scheme rather than by selling legitimate products or services. As the scheme grows, it becomes unsustainable, and only those at the top of the pyramid profit.

False billing occurs when consumers are charged for goods or services they did not purchase or receive. This can include unauthorized charges on credit cards, bills for unordered merchandise, or overcharging for products or services.

Counterfeit products are fake replicas of genuine products, often of inferior quality, sold under a brand’s name without the brand owner’s authorization. Common counterfeit goods include clothing, accessories, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.

Deceptive pricing tactics include false markdowns, deceptive comparison pricing, or misleading information about discounts or sale prices to trick consumers into believing they are getting a better deal than they actually are.

This tactic involves advertising a product at a low price to attract customers, only to pressure them into purchasing a higher-priced alternative once they are in the store or engaged in the transaction.

Unfair debt collection practices involve harassing or threatening behavior by debt collectors, misrepresenting the amount owed, or attempting to collect debts that consumers do not owe.

Some businesses enroll consumers in subscriptions or memberships without their consent or continue charging them for services even after they have canceled.
