Attorney T. Sinclair Bowman is an associate at SWMW Law. He joined the firm in 2026, focusing his practice on helping individuals and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.
A team member in the firm’s Settlements Department, Sinclair works directly alongside firm leadership to help clients secure the compensation they deserve. He brings a deep commitment to fighting for people who have been harmed by environmental dangers and dangerous products, particularly those from underserved communities who often face these harms without adequate recourse.
Before joining SWMW Law, Sinclair served as a Public Defender in the City of St. Louis, where he represented hundreds of clients navigating some of the most difficult moments in their lives. In that role, he developed a reputation for tenacity and thoroughness – whether filing dispositive motions, challenging unlawful police conduct, or simply showing up for his clients with everything he had. He subsequently gained civil defense experience at a local firm, where he handled matters in insurance, construction, real estate, and contracts.
Prior to law school, Sinclair spent a year as a teacher – an experience that sharpened his ability to communicate clearly and connect meaningfully with the people he serves.
“I came to this work because I believe the law should be a shield for the vulnerable, not a tool of the powerful,” Sinclair said. “I can’t undo the harm that has been done to my clients – I can’t give them back their health or the years they’ve lost. But I can make certain that the companies responsible are held accountable, and that every client I represent walks away knowing someone fought for them without reservation.”
What sets Sinclair apart is the breadth of how he defines his role as an advocate. Over the course of his career, he has helped clients find housing, secure employment, locate therapists, and navigate the countless challenges that accompany legal hardship. For Sinclair, the work has never been purely about legal analysis – it’s about tending to the whole person who comes through the door.
“Effective advocacy doesn’t end with the filing of a motion or the negotiation of a settlement,” Sinclair said. “My clients are often dealing with challenges that extend far beyond the courtroom, and I take seriously my responsibility to meet them where they are. The greatest compliment I can receive is that I did more for someone than they expected an attorney would.”
Colleagues and judges alike have described Sinclair as the definition of “zealous.” He will not rest until the right motions are filed, the right contacts are made, and his clients’ voices are heard – no matter the obstacles.
Sinclair earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis and a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Outside of the office, Sinclair is an avid birder and chess player. After years of moving from place to place, he has found a home in St. Louis – a city he has come to love, and a firm whose mission he is proud to be part of.
