Attorney Tara Kirsten King is an associate at SWMW Law. She joined the firm in 2025 and is assigned to the Liens Practice Area. She will also be assisting with special projects, settlement enforcement and mass torts.
Prior to joining SWMW Law, Tara began her career in complex settlement/fund administration and mass tort healthcare compliance. She then worked for SWMW Law for a period of time where she ran the firm’s mass tort department and handled complex subrogation issues for the firm’s asbestos department. Most recently, she was senior counsel for a national mass-tort firm in Colorado before rejoining SWMW Law.
With a desire to amplify the voices of those who often go unheard, Tara is an empathetic and strong advocate for those she represents.
“I understand how difficult life can be and I recognize what a privilege it is to be trusted by the clients we serve,” she said. “I exhibit a lot of grit and tenacity for my clients and there is no doubt I am a strong advocate for them.”
Tara prides herself in her ability to connect with clients, a trait she considers imperative in mass-tort litigation.
“I am extremely empathetic and find great joy in truly connecting with my clients,” she said. “I will always make myself available and take the time to address any concerns my clients may have. I’m often meeting them at the worst part in their lives, and it’s of great importance that they know I’m on their side and will go to bat for them utilizing everything in my arsenal.”
Tara completed her legal studies at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she completed a joint degree program, earning both her Juris Doctorate and a Masters Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She received a Merit Scholarship to the College of Law, as well as a full university scholarship to the graduate school. While completing her academic studies, Tara also served as an officer in multiple organizations and was a Senior Articles Editor for The Human Rights Quarterly.
Tara is very involved in the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and is a graduate of AAJ’s Leadership Academy. She serves on multiple committees within AAJ, including the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is also involved with Trial Lawyers Care. Tara also serves on the Missouri Association for Trial Attorney’s Women’s Caucus.
Originally from Lewiston, New York, Tara now resides in St. Louis with her son and two dogs. She enjoys spending time with her son and appreciates fine art and music.
