Attorney Sean Murley is an associate at SWMW Law. He joined the firm in 2026, focusing his practice on helping individuals and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.

As a member of the Bankruptcy Department within the firm’s Asbestos Practice, Sean works with other team members to maximize recoveries from companies that have petitioned for bankruptcy and are known to have manufactured, supplied, and distributed asbestos-containing products.

For more than two decades, Sean has dedicated his legal career to standing up for people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Before joining SWMW Law, he served for more than 17 years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in St. Clair County, Illinois, where he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases. While each case presented unique challenges, the work that left the greatest impression on him was advocating for victims of domestic abuse and helping them find justice.

“The law is at its best when it gives a voice to people who feel like they don’t have one,” Sean said. “Whether I’m standing beside a crime victim or someone whose life has been changed by asbestos exposure, my goal has always been the same: Fight for the justice they deserve.”

After his years in public service, Sean transitioned to private practice, spending approximately seven years representing plaintiffs and continuing his lifelong commitment to helping individuals navigate difficult legal challenges. That experience reinforced his passion for advocating on behalf of people who have been harmed through no fault of their own.

Today, Sean brings that same determination to SWMW Law, where he helps clients pursue compensation from asbestos bankruptcy trusts. He understands that every claim represents more than paperwork – it represents a person, a family, and a future that has been forever changed by a preventable disease.

“Our clients are facing one of the hardest battles of their lives,” Sean said. “If I can help ease even a small part of that burden by securing the compensation they’ve earned, then I’ve done something meaningful.”

Outside of the office, Sean lives in O’Fallon, Illinois, with his wife and their three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and appreciates the simple moments at home that keep him grounded and remind him why helping families is so important.
