The conference will feature two days of panels and presentations involving thought leaders from all perspectives and constituencies in asbestos litigation. Participants will include prominent plaintiff and defense attorneys, judges, in-house counsel, insurance professionals, risk managers, and scientific and medical experts.
Brockland is a featured panelist in the “Significance of Dissolution and Receiverships” discussion. The panel will discuss corporate reorganization alternatives. Zavaglia is a featured panelist in the “Causes of Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer Cases” discussion where the panel will discuss Scott K. Keller v. ExxonMobil Oil Corporation, lung cancer dockets, modern lung cancer claims, and the current state of the law regarding take-home claims. Both discussions will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The event not only provides educational and networking opportunities, but also provides Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits to attendees.
Brockland is one of the firm’s most experienced attorneys who handles all aspects of discovery and trial work for asbestos claims, as well as the firm’s business litigation cases. He received the distinction of being named an “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Missouri Lawyers Media in 2010 and was the recipient of the National Order of the Scribes Award for Excellence in Legal Writing in 2008. He graduated cum laude with his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Zavaglia focuses her practice on representing victims of asbestos-related illnesses and takes on some of the nation’s largest corporations to hold them accountable for dangerous products they put on the market. She was the lead trial attorney for a $9.7 million trial verdict involving a take-home asbestos exposure case in 2023. Missouri Lawyers Media named her a recipient of both the Legal Champion Award and the Up & Coming Award. She received her J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
