Shannon Scabora

Associate

Attorney Shannon Scabora is an associate at SWMW Law. She joined the firm in 2025, focusing her practice on helping individuals and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.

Before joining the firm, Shannon worked for a firm specializing in asbestos litigation where she litigated mesothelioma, lung cancer, and asbestosis cases in both Allegheny County and Philadelphia County. Upon graduation from law school, she worked in legal aid, starting at Northwestern Legal Services in Erie, PA. Following her time there, she continued her work in legal aid at Neighborhood Legal Services in Pittsburgh, PA. During law school, she interned at numerous reproductive rights and justice organizations, including the Center for Reproductive Rights and NARAL Maryland.

Working with Shannon

For as long as she can remember, Shannon has been driven by the insatiable desire to help others.

“I’ve had a passion for helping others for as long as I can remember, and I realized pretty early on that I wanted to make a career out of that passion,” she said. “I also realized pretty early on that I had a passion for advocacy, so I decided to become an attorney to combine my passion for helping others with my passion for advocacy.”

An empath at heart, Shannon is deeply invested in the lives of her clients and committed to securing them the justice they deserve. She understands the legal process can be a daunting and confusing path to navigate and takes to heart her responsibility to guide her clients every step of the way.

“In every case I work on, my top priority is to guide my client through the litigation process with compassion, empathy, and knowledge,” she said. “Our clients come to us at perhaps the worst period of their lives, and the trust that they instill in us during such a vulnerable time is not something I take lightly. I work hard to make sure that my clients are informed every step of the way and feel comfortable working and sharing with me.”

Believing her clients deserve the best representation possible, Shannon continuously looks for ways to further develop her skill set and become a better advocate.

“I want to be the very best I can be for my clients and am always looking for ways to be better and give them the champion they deserve,” she said. “It’s important to me that my clients know they are not alone and that they know they have someone dedicated to them, their families, and the successful outcome of their case.”

History of Success

During her time in law school, Shannon was named a Law and Public Policy Scholar. These scholars are accepted into the Law and Public Policy Program to spend a summer in Washington, D.C., learning about the intersection of law, politics, and policy. During her time in the program, she served as a legal fellow at the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), a nonprofit organization that advocates for international and sexual reproductive health and rights. While in law school, she was also designated as an Outstanding Oral Advocate during her Trial Advocacy course and was named a Beasley Scholar. Through the Beasley Scholar Program, she was awarded a merit-based full tuition scholarship.

Giving Back

Shannon’s dedication to her clients is mirrored by her dedication to the community. She volunteered as a clinic escort at Planned Parenthood from 2019-2021. In that role, she provided emotional and physical support to clinic goers facing harassment while entering and exiting the Planned Parenthood clinic. During her undergraduate career, she volunteered with Jumpstart, an early-childhood education program. She started as an AmeriCorps member and worked with a team to plan implement twice-weekly classroom activities for a class of pre-kindergarten students. After one year as an AmeriCorps member, she became a Jumpstart Team Leader, a role she had for two years. As a team leader, she led a group of AmeriCorps members in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities with a focus on language and literacy in pre-kindergarten classrooms. Throughout 2021, she also volunteered with Pittsburgh Union of Regional Renters where she provided legal support to tenants facing eviction.
