Attorney Jazmin Rodriguez is an associate at SWMW Law. She joined the firm in 2026, focusing her practice on helping individuals and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.
For Jazmin, practicing law is about more than navigating the legal system. It’s about listening to people’s stories, standing beside them during life’s most difficult moments, and making sure they know they don’t have to face their challenges alone. Driven by a genuine compassion for others and a lifelong desire to make a difference, she has built her legal career around advocating for individuals and families who need someone in their corner.
“I became an attorney because I wanted to help people,” Jazmin said. “When someone has been hurt through no fault of their own, they deserve to know that someone is looking out for them. If I can take even a little of that weight off their shoulders and give them peace of mind knowing they’re not fighting alone, then I know I’m doing meaningful work.”
As a member of SWMW Law’s Trial and Discovery Team, Jazmin works alongside experienced attorneys to build strong cases for individuals and families affected by asbestos exposure. She approaches every case with kindness, attentiveness, and an understanding that behind every legal claim is a person whose life has been profoundly affected.
Jazmin’s commitment to serving others began well before she entered the legal profession. After completing her undergraduate studies, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at Monarch Immigrant Services in St. Louis, where she supported immigrant and refugee communities. The organization’s holistic approach to helping individuals and families left a lasting impression on her, reinforcing her belief that meaningful advocacy begins with understanding the whole person, not just the challenges they face.
That dedication to community service continued throughout her time at Saint Louis University School of Law. Following her first year of law school, Jazmin spent the summer with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri’s Neighborhood Advocacy Unit, where she gained experience helping neighborhood organizations address vacant properties and advocate for stronger, healthier communities.
After her second year of law school, Jazmin joined a St. Louis firm for a summer clerkship, an experience that helped shape the direction of her legal career. Although she had always envisioned working directly with individuals, her time at the plaintiffs firm solidified her passion for representing people who have been harmed.
“That experience really confirmed why I wanted to become an attorney,” Jazmin said. “I loved knowing that every hour of work, every detail we reviewed, and every challenge we worked through was ultimately about helping someone. When you truly care about the people you’re representing, the hard work doesn’t feel like an obligation. It feels like a privilege.”
During her third year at SLU Law, Jazmin further developed her litigation skills as a member of the school’s Trial Advocacy Team, where she gained valuable experience practicing courtroom techniques and strengthening her ability to advocate effectively for clients. Her commitment to serving others was also recognized in 2025 when she received SLU Law’s Academic Excellence Award in Community Service.
In her final semester of law school, Jazmin began clerking at SWMW Law, where she quickly found an environment that aligned with her passion for plaintiff advocacy and compassionate client service.
Today, Jazmin brings that same dedication to her work on behalf of individuals and families facing mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. She understands that many of the firm’s clients spent their lives working hard to provide for themselves and their loved ones, never imagining that exposure to asbestos could one day threaten their health and future.
For Jazmin, the opportunity to advocate for those families is both a responsibility and a privilege. She believes that every client’s story deserves to be heard and that building trust begins with taking the time to truly listen.
“Every client has a story, and that story matters,” Jazmin said. “These are people who were simply doing their best to build good lives for themselves and their families, and now they’re facing something they never should have had to experience. I want them to know that I hear them, I care about what they’ve been through, and I will give everything I have to advocating for them.”
Jazmin considers it a privilege to live out her dream of becoming a plaintiffs attorney, and she remains motivated each day by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those she represents. Through her compassion, determination, and commitment to putting people first, she strives to ensure every client feels supported, respected, and confident that their case is in caring hands.
