Current Lawsuits for Prescription Drugs & Medical Devices

Taxotere

Taxotere

SWMW Law’s pharmaceutical team is currently pursuing cases for individuals who suffered injury due to Taxotere, a chemotherapy drug that can cause alopecia, a severe and permanent form of hair loss.

We’re investigating whether the manufacturer, Sanofi-Aventis, engaged in illegal practices to boost sales, while hiding the drug’s negative side effects. A former Sanofi-Aventis employee blew the whistle on the company’s marketing practices, which claims they misrepresented the safety and efficacy of the drug and provided kickbacks to doctors who prescribed it. This scheme provided Sanofi-Aventis with an exponential profit, bringing in $1.4 billion in just four years. Their desire for profits was more important than any concern for the patient’s well-being.

If you or a family member has suffered permanent hair loss after using Taxotere, please call us anytime at (855) 744-1922 or contact us online.

IVC Filter

Ivc Filter 768X 878

SWMW Law’s pharmaceutical team can pursue compensation for people who have suffered injury as a result of the IVC (inferior vena cava) Filter, a device designed to capture blood clots before they reach the lungs. Lawsuits that have been filed claim negligence, failure to sufficiently warn the patient of risks, design defects, manufacturing defects and negligent misrepresentation. Five IVC Filter products by different manufacturers have been identified as a source of problems in recent lawsuits:

  • The Bard Recovery filter
  • The Bard G2 filter
  • The Bard G2 Express filter
  • The Cook Gunther Tulip filter
  • The Cook Celect filter

Philips Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Philips Respironics, Inc. manufactures and distributes CPAP machines to treat sleep apnea. Unfortunately, many of these machines have been found to contain design defects that can cause serious health issues for users. These defective devices are dangerous because they can leak carbon dioxide into the user's airway, leading to respiratory problems or even death in some cases. Additionally, the noise from the machine has been known to disrupt sleep patterns and lead to insomnia or other sleeping disorders.

Because of these safety concerns, numerous lawsuits have been filed against Philips by individuals who have experienced adverse effects due to their use of CPAP machines manufactured by the company. If you or a loved one suffered health complications after using one of these devices, reach out to SWMW Law to explore your legal options. We can help you hold Philips accountable and fight to secure the compensation you need to move forward.

IVC Filters are cage-like metal devices implanted in the veins of people for a brief period of time to catch blood clots before they reach the lungs. These filters have been linked to numerous complications like vein and organ perforation, migration to other parts of the body or malfunction that can injure patients.

If you or someone you know developed complications as a result of an IVC Filter, please call us anytime at (855) 744-1922 or contact us online.

Truvada (Antiretroviral Drug)

Truvada 300X 240-300X 240

SWMW’s pharmaceutical team is currently accepting cases for people injured by the antiretroviral drug Truvada, and other drugs containing the active ingredient tenofovir. Tenofovir drugs include Viread, Stribild, Atripla, Symfi Lo, AccessPark for HIV PEP Expanded with Kaletra, AccessPark for HIV PEP Expanded with Viracept, Complera, Cimduo and Genvoya. If you or a loved one took Truvada and experienced any of the symptoms below, you may be eligible for compensation:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Osteopenia
  • Osteomalacia
  • Bone fractures
  • Bone density loss
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Renal failure
  • Low kidney function
  • Kidney failure

It’s been found that the manufacturer of Truvada, Gilead Scientific, knew about the serious problems and almost immediately crafted a new, safer drug without the known side effects. However, the alternative drug was not released until the patent ran out on this less-safe HIV drug.

If you believe Truvada could be the cause of you or a loved ones diagnosis of the above conditions, we encourage you to speak to one of SWMW Law’s experienced personal injury attorneys. It’s clear this company put profits over patient safety and they should be held accountable.

Juul Vaping Products

If you or your child has suffered adverse health consequences after using Juul products, we encourage you to reach out to SWMW Law. We are currently taking cases involving harm caused by these products and can fight to get you the compensation you deserve.

Juul vaping products are electronic cigarette devices that contain disposable cartridges filled with nicotine-laced e-liquid that can be inhaled as an aerosol or "vapor." This vapor is intended to deliver a dose of nicotine each time it is used, which encourages users to become addicted. In addition to the highly addictive properties of nicotine, Juul “pods” come in a variety of flavors, such as mint, mango, and crème brulée, which are designed to appeal to younger users who are unaware of the health risks associated with vaping.

Although Juul has advertised its products as a safer alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes, research has shown that even small amounts of vapors produced by Juul devices can lead to long-term lung damage and other serious health issues such as heart disease and cancer. In fact, Juul pods contain more than twice the amount of nicotine as in other e-cigarettes. As a result of these potential hazards and Juul's aggressive marketing tactics that target vulnerable populations including children and adolescents, several states have banned or restricted the sale and marketing of flavored e-cigarettes.
