David J. Rabbitt
Associate
Attorney David J. Rabbitt is an associate at SWMW Law. He joined the firm in 2023, focusing his practice on helping individuals and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.
A member of the firm’s Asbestos Practice, David works specifically in Litigation Case Development. In this role, he works closely with asbestos clients to communicate case updates, prepare them for depositions, and address any concerns they may have throughout the duration of their case.
A Personal Connection
Prior to becoming an attorney, David worked as a police officer and as a laborer with Local #42 and Local #110. As a laborer, he served as an inspector, supervisor, and worker in asbestos abatement, a role that helps him to form personal connections with the clients he represents.
“My history as a blue-collar worker and union member affords me the unique opportunity to connect with so many of the clients we see at our firm,” he said. “I know the struggles they face and identify with the hard work they put in every day to provide for their families. I’ll never forget telling a client over the phone that I, too, was once a union worker and he called me ‘brother’ from there on out. He knew right away that I understood him and that I was on his side, and to me, that’s invaluable.”
Believing personal connections to be the key to any successful case, David prides himself on taking the time to get to know each client, listening to their story, and working as teammates to secure them the justice they deserve.
“I truly believe my calling in life is to help others, and to do that, it’s incredibly important for me to get to know my clients on a personal level,” he said. “I genuinely want to know their life story, where they’re coming from, and ask the questions needed to best understand them and how I can help. This doesn’t just make me the best attorney I can be, it fuels my passion to get them, and their family, justice. My clients aren’t case numbers, they’re real people with real stories that deserve to be heard. And I want them to know I’m always here to listen.”
David’s commitment to his clients is mirrored by his commitment to the community. From 2008 – 2013, he was an active member of the Webster Grove Lions Club. Since 2002, he’s been involved with the American Legion Missouri Boys State, a youth program held each year to teach Missouri high-school students leadership skills and the workings of government. In 2024, he was an instructor for the group’s School of Instruction and educated students about the law. The group recognized his dedication with a 10-year service award.
While in law school, David was the recipient of the Darleen J. and Robert L. Walker Scholarship and was named a Student Ambassador and Theodore McMillian Inns of Court pupil.
Outside of being an attorney, David is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Allison, are the parents of three “beautiful, rambunctious, brilliant” children.
